recipe for Cincinnati Chili:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chili powder
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground allspice
- 1/2 tsp ground cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
Instructions:
1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent.
3. Stir in the chili powder, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add the tomato paste, beef broth, diced tomatoes, water, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar to the pot. Stir well.
5. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let cook for 30 minutes.
6. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
7. Serve the chili over cooked spaghetti noodles, topped with shredded cheese, diced onions, and a dollop of sour cream (if desired).
